At last, you have graduated from high school. You cannot help but celebrate your newfound independence both from your parents and teachers. We can now be considered matured individuals. Life is exciting! However, the feeling of euphoria quickly dissipates. What will you do for money? What can you do to have a continuous source of income? First, you can look for a job, or head for college.

Going to college is the better choice as it will lead you to more opportunities. A job at the nearby hamburger parlor could be interesting in the beginning, but will you be feeling the same when you are 45?

There are two ways to have a steady source of income. You can apply for a job or proceed to higher education – college! For me pursuing college education is the better choice because it will pave the way to further personal growth and more opportunities. When you are young, a job at the local hamburger joint could already be appealing, but when you reach 45, you would wish you could have done other things. Having a solid plan after high school graduate is advisable. If you plan to go to college, the first thing you do is scout around for a college and apply. As in all other researches, you can search for the names of top ranking colleges in the internet.

As I started my search for a University to go to, I, of course, want to go to the most reputable college in the state. Getting a college diploma is a good thing to do but it will be a big plus if your diploma came from famous universities such as Yale or Harvard. It will also boost your reputation. These are some of the best colleges in America, not to forget Princeton and Berkeley.

These colleges are the best of the best and every year, millions of high school graduates make every effort to get accepted by these leading schools in America. And why not, most students who graduate from these distinguished universities have already a job waiting for them after graduation. There is indeed a high demand for those M.I.T. graduates.

What Does a Highly Ranked University Require?

If you plan to go into one of these top colleges, serious preparation for it should begin right from high school. Just like one of my classmates in high school who got accepted in Harvard University, she had absolutely great GPA plus a variety of supplementary activities. These prestigious colleges seek out other merits to help them in their selection process from amongst the thousands vying applicants.

If college is part of your plans after high school graduation, as early as your senior, you should already be looking at the various colleges in the top rank list. This is readily available in the internet. You can find out how much their fees are and what each college or university offers before you formally file your application. Your future is in your hand, so does your choice of University. So make a good choice, then gear up for hard work.
