Don’t Lose Your Way With A Navigon 2100T Portable GPS
I was in shock when my father told me he was lost when he called the house. Immediately I panicked and began to worry. Right away I started thinking that perhaps he has Alzheimers or something even worse. This could not be happening, he was a taxi driver. After my finding out that information, I questioned him. Is there any restaurant near you, or are there any people near by to help you, street signs near you at all, can you tell me if you cut the car off? Grrr!
I felt a lot better when he told me that all the new streets that had recently been put in on that side of town had made him lose track of where his turn was. He made me admit that I thought he was losing his mind to old age. I was relieved to find out he was still in his right mind.
At the next opportunity, I went to several retail location to look for a GPS my dad could use. Gets out of the car and looks up our phone numbers in his hand written address book to use his ‘programmed by me’ cell phone,it had to be easy because let’s face it, he pulls over. If it weren’t for me he’d still be carrying around that prehistoric 20 lb bag phone,I’m sure.
Finally, after and long and arduous search, I discovered the Navigon 2100T portable GPS. I love that it’s portable. He can take with him in his car, or he can take it with him in his truck. Its not as big as the Cobra GPSM 2500, but not as small as the Magellan Roadmate. He wears bifocals.
The other neat feature I liked was the 3 D images that Navigon 2100T portable GPS offers. I didn’t find this on any of the other models I looked at. It gives a very realistic look to the roads that will make my dad’s navigation attempts a lot easier.
It also comes with “test to speech” technology. Wow what a great little feature. I’ve heard GPS systems in the past that tell you turn left 15 miles down the road. This neat little machine tells you to turn left at “Carlisle Street.” My dad knows streets. Guesstimating 15 miles is a stretch. He’s too proud to touch the little button that measures your distance on the car. By the time you’ve turned down the wrong road, you’re five minutes into it before you realize it was the next left. But not with the Navigon 2100T portable GPS system.
The replaceable SD card is another nice feature and you can upgrade to get traffic control. That way if you’re stuck in a jam, it can give you alternate routes to your destination.
And as a bonus, it was very affordable! Eventually, I gave in and went to amazon and bought 2 for a little more than $300. I needed one also. My dad was way better with Navigon 2100T portable GTS than me, in less time than a month he had it figured out.
