If you have heard of Japanese script called Kanji you have to understand that it has its roots in China. The characters from Chinese symbol are throughout obvious in the Japanese script as we find it now in their logographic style of writing. In fact once you translate the Kanji script you will find characters from Chinese Hans symbols.

So what is the actual story behind Chinese kanji symbols and how come they are credited to Japan today? Well, it all started out when Chinese articles started coming into Japan as imports with Han character inscriptions on them.

An example of such an article includes the gold seal that was handed over by the then emperor of the Han dynasty to the Japanese. How and when the Japanese began to achieve command over the use of the Chinese characters remains a mystery.

What possibly may have happened was that the Chinese immigrants in Japan must have been the first people to be using the Kanji script. It would have been absolutely impossible for the Japanese themselves to understand it and learn the script on their own.

The political ties between China and Japan goes back a long way and such a boding required a volume of paperwork which was required to go to and fro from one country to the other. In Japan they set up a council called Fuhito who were entrusted with the duty to learn Chinese language so that they could read the documents. This perhaps made way for the Chinese Kanji script to be accepted developed in Japan.

At the time when the Chinese Kanji script was introduced in Japan, the country lacked any writing system of its own. Starting out with the Chinese system the country gradually gave form to its own writing system which involved making use of Chinese text with some reformation according to Japanese grammar.

What the Japanese did was that they began to write Japanese words with Chinese characters. This was an advancement made in Japanese writing style and was named as Kana syllables. The Japanese additionally developed the script and introduced phonetics to the Chinese symbols they were using whereas in China the symbols did not have any kind of phonetic.

Kanji script though accepted more or less as Japanese is used more frequently in China than in Japan. People also believe that the Kanji script of both the countries look almost the same. In reality the Japanese and Chinese Kanji script has lot of difference as Chinese Kanji symbols are shaped differently.

The dissimilarity between the Chinese and Japanese script also extends into the way that they are read. As mentioned above the Chinese would treat the kanji characters as entire symbols whereas the Japanese would read them according to their phonetic value.

Campaign yard signs not only represent the voting public’s right to “have their say,” they clue them in that their civic duty is near. Looked at in this light, they are not to be taken lightly.

Further Your Candidate’s Cause with Election Yard Signs

Election yard signs may be considered bottom-of-the-barrel marketing when compared to more flashy forms of political advertising. However, they are a favored grassroots marketing tool that has stood the test of time. Used by local political candidates and those who aspire to national offices as well, they are tried, true and effective. One might say that election yard signs are the granddaddy of all forms of political marketing.

Taking the time to properly design your candidate’s political yard sign can mean the difference between a “Yay” or “Nay” vote. Why? Because design speaks to the brand that is your candidate. Americans are bombarded by thousands of messages every day. What’s going to make your candidate’s get through? You want your candidate to be remembered not just when a potential voter sees a sign, but come voting time as well.

2 Crucial Design tips for Election Yard Signs

Make it Readable: The first tip in designing an effective, vote-getting political yard sign is to make it readable. Many overlook this simple fact by trying to crowd too much on one sign. Go for one impactful message to be effective.

Give it Purpose: Election yard signs generally fulfill one of three objectives: to raise awareness about a candidate, to get votes for a candidate and/or to sway the votes away from a candidate. An effective sign should address all three – just one.
